RecurDyn Used as a CAE Tool in Affordable Prosthetics Research at Virginia Military Institute
Article placed on the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) website describes the research being directed by mechanical engineering professor Joyce Blandino
April 28, 2017 – Research conducted at VMI is targeted to someday help amputees in developing countries. A capstone project directed by Professor Joyce Blandino involved three cadets in the mechanical engineering design of a low-cost prosthetic for below-the-knee amputees.
While two of the cadets focused their efforts on making the design more dynamic for a greater range of motion, the third cadet used RecurDyn to produce a walking gait simulation, also producing an honors thesis on his research.
