MotionPort Becomes North American Distributor for RecurDyn

Customers Will Benefit from Focused Service

February 4, 2004 — YPSILANTI, Mich. – MotionPort, LLC has signed an agreement with FunctionBay, Inc. of Seoul, Korea to be an independent software distributor of RecurDyn software in North America. “We are pleased to form this new organization in North America,” said Dr. Brant A. Ross, Business Manager at MotionPort. “Due to the previous work of our staff with FunctionBay we are starting off with a great set of customers who are already realizing benefits from using RecurDyn. We look forward to helping new customers improve their engineering activities through the use of simulation-derived information.”

MotionPort will focus its resources on the providing quality support to its customers. RecurDyn differs from conventional multibody dynamic analysis programs in its formulation. It uses relative coordinates when formulating the governing equations of motion and kinematics. This reduces troublesome geometric nonlinearities in mechanical systems. For example, automobile simulations with differential gear models on conventional program frequently terminate before completion. Such situations are sensitive to integration error tolerance. Similar simulations are carried out successfully with the newer methods in RecurDyn.
